Conditioners, air conditioners, dehumidifiers, purifiers: what are the main differences?

Conditioners are devices that constitute the air conditioning system. A conditioner is used to cool the air in a room; it basically do not dehumidify nor purify it from harmful micro-organism. The air conditioners are not involved in the bioclimate hygrometric management because they do not change the humidity level in the surrounding environment.

Air conditioners are devices that constitute the air climate control system. The more advanced models of the latest generation are also the most complete solution to handle the bioclimatic needs that you want to recreate in your environment, because they cool the air in the summer while heating it in the winter; they pull out of the air its excessive moisture rate through their dehumidifier features, then they remove all the harmful microparticles through the purifying function.

Dehumidifiers can absorb the moisture in excess in the air, therefore they

A frequently asked question about air conditioning units and air climate control systems is whether or not the output air is bad for your health. First of all, it is no good in suffering from the heat and the high humidity; we also know that everything must be used moderately and with intelligence in order to respect people and the environment. Accordin to this facts, the answer is “it is not bad for your health”.

It is a common knowledge that during the winter 21 degrees with 55% humidity is the ideal temperature for physical wellbeing.

But during the summer time? In the summer, the optimal temperature is 25/27 degrees with 50% humidity during the day, and 22/23 degrees with 50% humidity during the night in order to not suffer from excessive difference in temperature between inside and outside.

By night, you should refresh your environments two hours before bedtime and please do not forget to set the system to the minimum power when you go to sleep; otherwise you could suffer the maximum action of the air conditioning system, causing damages to your health.

Thanks to the digital thermostat, you can check at any time the temperature and the humidity of your environment, while the timer allows you to schedule the system’s switch on and off without having to manually step in. The 2007 financial bill introduced specific tax incentives in the implementation of works on existing buildings to reduce energy consumption.

This facility is about the recognition of a 55% tax deduction on incurred expense by 2007, to be divided into 3 to 10 annual installments of equal amount, up to a maximum usable deduction that is established in relation to each of the provided interventions:

- 100,000 € for works that involve the entire building, significantly improving its energy performance and reducing heat losses by at least 20% compared with set law values;

- 60,000 € for works on walls, roofs and floors, inclusive frames windows, relative to works on existing buildings, sections of existing buildings or building units, in condition that law requirements are obeyed;

- 60,000 € for solar panels installation in order to produce hot water for domestic or industrial needs and to cover hot water needs in swimming pools, sports facilities, nursing homes and care, schools and universities;

- 30,000 € for replacements of heating systems with systems provided with condensing boilers, and simultaneous development of the distribution system.

Both private individual and companies are eligible for these deductions that operate on cadastral category house units, including rural.

To obtain the tax benefit you must:

- Get a qualified professional to prepare the following documents:

1. an asseveration proving the works comply with the law requirements;
2. an energy performance certificate (art. 6 dlg.s August 19, 2005, n. 192);
3. a factsheet about the works and the obtained benefits.
- Make payments through bank transfer, including your tax code and VAT number or the recipient tax identification number, asking the labor amount to be shown;
- Send the documentation referred to in paragraphs 2 and 3 to ENEA.

The 2008 financial bill (Law of December 24, 2007 n. 244) is extending the incentives already provided by the 2007 bill until the end of 2010 and introducing new ones.
In particular:
- the tax breaks provided by the 2007 financial bill are extended to 2010 for the overall redevelopment of buildings; walls, floors and roofs insulation; including frames windows replacement; solar panels installation and heating systems replacement with condensing boilers systems;
- The same deduction now applies also to heating systems replacement (exept for condensing boiler systems) if it has been done by 2009;
- Tax deductions can now be distributed in equal annual tranches from 3 to 10 years, on taxpayer choice;
- The 55% tax deduction also applies to winter conditioning systems replacement with high efficiency heat pumps and low-enthalpy geothermal systems;
-  Since 2009 the building permission issue is subject to the installation of plants for the production of electricity from renewable sources, to the building energy certification and to the structural features designed to save water.
- For the installation of including frames windows and thermal solar panels the asseveration of a qualified technician is required; alternatively, the manufacturer certification is good as well. The energy qualification certificate (or certification) is no longer needed.
- Municipalities can introduce an ICI reduced rate, less than 4 per thousand, for those who install energy plants from renewable sources.
The 10% subsidized VAT applicability and the chance to use the 55% deduction also with prospective certification costs remain unchanged.
